Criticism of the vices
of the clergy

Goya's criticism of the clergy is concerned with their political activity and way of life

Nobody was looking at us (Caprichos)
Goya's criticism of the most common vices of the clergy can be clearly seen in the Caprichos and other collections of prints and sketchbooks. There were two notable features in his work: political criticism and attacks on the clergy's way of life.
